In the process of cutting stone blocks with diamond saw blades, the segment of the saw blade often has a cutting state: the middle is concave and the two sides are convex. So what adverse effects will this situation have on the segment?1: The life of the diamond segment will be greatly reduced. Because the middle layer is consumed very quickly during the cutting process, and then the segments on both sides will also be quickly consumed. The life of the segment is 10-30% lower than that of the normally consumed segment, which greatly increases the production cost of the stone factory, so many stone factories will feel overwhelmed when they see such a segment.
2: The utilization rate of the diamond segment is reduced. Generally, after the segment is cut, it is necessary to leave a bottom of 1-3mm to protect the blade base. However, this kind of segment recessed in the middle will cause 4-5mm to be reserved for the bottom edges on both sides due to the excessive consumption in the middle, resulting in a lot of waste.
3: The efficiency of the segment concave in the middle is reduced during the cutting process. The middle part does not participate in the cutting, cutting stone relies on the nodes on both sides for cutting, and there are fewer diamonds involved in the cutting. Therefore, in the process of cutting stone, it will increase the burden on both sides and slow down the grinding force. Under normal circumstances, the segment with a concave in the middle is 10-20% less sharp than the segment for normal cutting.
To sum up, in the process of diamond segment participating in stone cutting, if there is a middle concave situation, it will greatly reduce the cutting efficiency of the segment and seriously affect the cutting of stone, so why does this happen? These mainly caused by some factors as follows:
1.When the segment manufacturer designs the segment formula, the ratio of the middle and edge material is not appropriate, that is, the proportion of diamond in the edge material is too much, and the proportion of diamond in the middle layer is too small. In the normal cutting process, the intermediate layer is quickly consumed, and the edge material layer is consumed slowly due to the high diamond concentration. That’s why this situation take place.
2.The segment does not match the stone. This situation is especially common in some highly abrasive stones (such as sandstone). Because this highly abrasive stone will cause greater wear and tear on the segment. During the cutting process, the gravel in the sandstone is always kept in the gap of diamond segment by part of the gravel, this part of the gravel will be used for secondary grinding of the segment, especially the middle part, which is consumed very quickly. This forms a situation where the middle of the segment is concave.
3: The design of the segment is unreasonable. When cutting marble, the segment of the sandwich will have a longer life. If the cutting efficiency is pursued, the segment should be designed as a multi-layer structure. If the thickness of the interlayer is too wide, such a middle concave situation will also occur. Actually, under normal circumstances, such situations are relatively rare.
So how to solve the situation that the segment is concave in the middle? In fact, most of the concave in the middle of the segment is caused by the mismatch between the stone and the segment. It is better to continuously adjust the cutting speed of the diamond segment during the test, and seek the diamond segment that matches the stone you are cutting according to its different performance life and comprehensive cutting ability. There is an old saying in the diamond segment industry: there is no best segment, only segments that constantly match customer requirements. Fit is best, not more expensive or more cost-effective.If you encounter such a recessed segment, might as well use this kind of segment to cut the stone with a slightly lower abrasiveness, and it may have a good cutting effect.
